we sold replacement necks through 1990, so that part is legit. the clapton story might be a stretch. doesn't ring a bell with me. we offered 8", 12" and 15" radius back then. we certainly didn't put the decal on or do the fret work.

Supposedly Eric had Tom make copies of the necks on his favorite old stratocasters to give to friends as gifts.
