What is the difference of the Cobra S and a Drop Top? I have never played a Cobra, but would love to try one...
If you have the same tonewoods and same pickups, what would be the sonic difference!? Is it any difference in the body messurements?
Do yoy get more higs/trebble due to the shorter scale? Or does the sound go more middle
can a Cobra S do the classic strat sounds like the Drop Top?

Cobras have a shorter scale length - 24.75" vs. the DT's 25.5" scale. Shorter scale length translates into lower string tension (easier for string bending).
Cobra necks are only available in mahoghany with rosewood fretboards. DT's are maple necks with either rw or maple fretboards.
Cobra bodies are only available in mahoghany or mahog with a maple top. DT's are vailable in basswood, alder, swamp ash & mahog.
IMO the mahog body and the shorter scale of Cobras makes the Cobra sound/play more towards the Gibson end of the scale. DT's sound/play more like a Strat.

Solid rosewood is another option for Cobra necks. ;)
Stan, congrats on the 1,000 posts!

Oopps!!! Forgot all about solid rosewood, thanks Jon! Even with a solid RW neck I think the Cobra would gravitate towards the Gibson end of the spectrum. I own 2 PRSs with solid RW necks and find the tone to be very close to eqivalent mahog necked models. The feel of a solid rw neck on the other hand......
our rosewood necks have a finish on them, so they feel the same on the back. they are stiffer, so that part feels different than the more flexible mahogany. a cobra with m's does a pretty mean strat combination sound.
