I have noticed some differences in Anderson necks as opposed to some of the other, more modern guitars that are out now. Guitars like ESP, Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez, etc. (shredders?), have necks that may have the same thickness as an Anderson, but the neck shapes seem different. The other brands have almost like a flattened D or U shape, where the thickest part of the neck extends further out from the center towards the top and bottom of the neck (under the high and low E strings), making the back of the neck feel flatter. I have heard this described as having a neck with 'broader shoulders.' The Andersons have definitely more of a C shape to them, where the maximum thickness of the neck doesn't peak until you reach the middle of the neck, say under the D and G strings. Not V shaped by any standard, but more of a C shape. It seems this is based more on a vintage design. Is this just me? Is it possible to get more of a 'broader shoulder' neck with Andersons?
