Hi All
And a happy New Year to you all from across the pond !

I have a question for anyone technically minded concerning my Cobra S Special (P90s)
I record a lot on a Yamaha AW16G, guitars usually di'd through a POD.
My cobra is especially noisy when I plug it in to record. The sound is similar to an earthing problem. I have numerous guitars and this only happens with two of them, the other being a Taylor acoustic.
I have a Les Paul with P90's and a strat and neither make this much noise. The 335 and the PRS are silent !
I have a Gibson J50 that I believe has the same Fishman pickup in as the Taylor and that doesn't make a sound either. This is just confusing because when I play elsewhere, gigs, practice halls etc etc neither of the guitars are noisy, it only seems to effect them at home and when I'm recording.
It's murphy's law that it should be my two fave guitars that have this problem.
I know certain electrical goods can effect the guitar PC monitors, some lights etc and I have tried switching everything off in the room without success.

Can some pickups just be sensitive to certain house wiring ? could it be my house circuit ? it would explain why it only seems to happen at home.
Could it be the pickups reacting with the AW16G ???

I love my cobra and would dearly like someone to help me solve this problem

many thanks guys
Keith

Are you recording in to your computer. If so what type of monitor are you using, a regular monitor screen will pick up the magnitic properties of a single coil. My son's fender will buzz really bad in front of his monitor but my Cobra with m's in front of my flat screen does not. Flat LCD do not buzz and are the best for recording on with computer.

yes the monitor is a huge deal. also though, p90's are loud single coils, so the noise they can produce is louder than a weaker single coil. because single coils are suseptable to this stuff, they can be unpredictable in different situations. in my normal playing situation, i have no issues with single coils. we played in a hotel banquet room a couple months ago and i could not use any of the single coil sounds.
