I have a non-TAG guitar ( ) that has a slight gap on the bass side of the neck pocket. It's tight at the top, but at the base of the heel there is a .006-.007" gap. It tapers up to no gap at the top of the pocket. Does that seem like an acceptable fit to you? Opinions?
if you mean that the top of the neck fits tight in the pocket but the bottom does not, like the side of the neck is tapered, it should not move, just doesn't look cool. it is hard to get this style of neck pocket fitting nice and tight. our new one will never have that problem.

Yes, that's what I mean. I'm actually surprised to see this type of thing coming from this particular manufacturer. Do you have a tolerance that you allow on your guitars, Tom?
that's a tough thing to measure, it would be a judgement call. if it looked bad we'd make a new neck. i really don't think it would make the guitar sound bad, i think the sound transfer really happens between the bottom and end of the pocket, but it could be a cosmetic issue.
