Hi everyone. I need help. I'm not yet in the market for a new guitar but definately am at the place where I need to step up soon. I play blues, jazz, r&b, funk, & rock. I currently use a Yamaha RGX-TT Ty Tabor model loded with a SD-JB in the bridge & two Cool Rails. I am looking at getting a Tom Anderson but am curious if I should go with a true strat-style guitar or something hotter like the cobra. Some of my favorite stuff is from blues guys & jazz guys who play strats or the like, ie. Mike Stern(Tele), Scott Henderson(Suhr Strat), Joe Bonamassa(Strat), Eric Johnson(Strat). I'm just in a bind about it. I love the single coil tone but love the response & snap of humbuckers but know that single coils offered today have come a long way & there are many choices. What do you guys think? Help. Thanks.

Hi Chris,

I would suggest a strat style guitar loaded with the new M series pick ups which might be the answer to your prayers tone wise.

I might also suggest calling Roy at Tom Anderson Guitarworks and picking his brain too.

I think the Cobra, while an awesome guitar, is a very different animal than the strat style guitars you mentioned.

Hope this helps.

You need to try an Anderson with three M series pickups.

What Brian said.

I play mostly blues and a little jazz, and 3 m's in a Cobra S are special, indeed.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna try to plan a trip down to Charlies' as soon as I can & play several. I play a TopHat Club Royale 212. Should I take my rig or will I be able to tell what I need with what they have in stock?

Brian will get you hooked up, he's got some great stuff in there! Careful though, you may end up with an amp, too!

Tulsa's not too far. Come on down and don't worry about bringing the rig, we've got plenty of cool amps that will work in a pinch. I've got some very nice guitars with M's to boot.

An M2 in the bridge position will just sing through a cranked Club Royale 2x12. At least it did the other day in my basement.:D

I'm actually going to be there tomorrow. I heading down to Dallas tonight and Charley's is on my list of must go places. I've actually never had the chance to play an Anderson so this is quite exciting for me. :D

I enjoyed my trip to Charley's. Anderson's are great guitars. I didn't buy one yet but I would like to thank Brian for being so hospitable. Great guy. Thanks, Brian!
