Well...I did it. I switched my pickguards back this weekend on my new Classic. I couldn't get used to the pearloid guards. After talking with Tom, I brewed a pot of coffee and dipped the VA covers in for about 35 minutes. They came out a little darker than I intentioned, but the cool thing is that they kinda marbled a bit and actually match the vintage tint on the maple neck!!! I may tint the pickguard some day. So....it looks like a new/vintage guitar now!! Fenders custom shop couldn't do any better.
