A little birdy told me that the entire 100 piece run was sold out in 6 days. The guitar lists for $4444.

Yeah, I knew about it before it was first announced as Ritchie Araki from the unofficial Schenker website alluded to it several months prior and announced the deal before the official announcement. I came very close to ordering it from a dealer on the dean forum who quoted me $2500. I considered it a lot, but in the end, I decided: 1) I rather save the $2500 and wait for the new model Anderson; 2) Schenker's V in my mind will always be a Gibson, not a Dean; 3) I prefer to buy only Suhrs and Andersons; 4) Knowing Schenker, this deal will last a year or so, and he'll move on to something else (He actually never played the prototype Dean live-it literally was a stage prop); 5) It's hard form me to respect a company that always needs to use hot chicks to sell their guitars (No, I'm not on my high horse, I just hate stupid marketing ploys and Dean is guilty as charged on that one). Anyway, I already promised Dan from Dan's Guitars that I'll get the new Anderson model from him too.

... 1) I rather save the $2500 and wait for the new model Anderson;

Good reason

2) Schenker's V in my mind will always be a Gibson, not a Dean;

What about Aria?

3) I prefer to buy only Suhrs and Andersons;

Another good reason.

4) Knowing Schenker, this deal will last a year or so, and he'll move on to something else (He actually never played the prototype Dean live-it literally was a stage prop);

I don't know Schenker, but I understand he was practically destitute when he got this deal and it may have kept him from hitting bottom. I also understand that they are working on an import series based on the Sig model.

5) It's hard form me to respect a company that always needs to use hot chicks to sell their guitars (No, I'm not on my high horse, I just hate stupid marketing ploys and Dean is guilty as charged on that one).

Hot chicks, as a rule, are never a bad idea. And Dean's marketing strategy is hardly stupid ("Sex sells!" Oldest ad mantra in the known universe!). Nor is it a "ploy". That word implies deception or manipulation to gain an advantage. Telling customers that nitrocellulose "breathes" in order to generate business, knowing that it does not, is a ploy. Showing T&A to make guitar players remember the brand name is hardly the same thing. Of course, I can understand (kinda) if you're offended by the use of sex kitten models (who owe their livelihood to the ad industry), I just think your labels are inaccurate. But personally, I like the hot chicks.

Dean girl trivia: the lovely young lady below played the French maid in the movie American Wedding.

Yeah, the hot chicks ads within itself don't bother me-but I'm almost insulted as a crappy guitar player that a company has to use chicks to get my interest. I rather just buy porno and an Anderson than buy a Dean and their chick ads! :D As for the V itself, as I told Mike O., man, for me, it just has to be a gibson or at least something that looks like a gibson (and the Aria Schenker strat like headstock, bolt on neck didn't do it for me either). The Dean Schenker V has that inverted v headstock, a v neck profile (!), and the string through construction mixed with the 67 knob position! Yikes! I wish Gibson would give Schenker his due and just make him a signature V. Heck, they did it for Rudy, and Rudy sucks.

Tombo, you're SUCH the instigator. ;)

And, Mark you're now known as Pluto, the guy who'd "rather just buy porno and an Anderson than buy a Dean and their chick ads!":D

You guys know I say this out of love, right?:eek:

Tom, you're still the deputy-your job has way too much stress for my liking. Remember, we Hawaiians are too laid back, that's why we sit under coconut trees all day. Excitement is just not our thing!

thanks for the correction. I haven't heard that since the 70's. I really thought there was the line "tell Faith Yanagi I love her" or something like that. Where did you pick up the CD?

Nope-it's the late, great Rap Reiplinger (sic?), the creator of the notorious line, "I goin' kerrang your allahs!", and otherwise known as the comedian who died after going bonkers on coke. And, I think it was Fate Yanagi and not Faith Yanagi, but I can't remember. Steve, do you remember?

Well uh, of course it was "Fate Yanagai", but make a blalah say 'faith' and it comes out 'fate' :D and yeah - the title of the song was "Tell Fate Yanagi I love her".....actually, "Japanese Roll Call" was my favorite on that one..."Loving you is surfing you" was pretty good too....Classic:p
