I have ordered a pearl pickguard for my new classic. Is switching these things out complicated? I would like to be able to do this myself. Never done something like this (guitar and tool challenged). What do I need and any advice? these are VA pickups pull adds bridge, no blower, btw.
thanks anybody-

it's pretty straight forward. remove the knobs with a small flat blade screwdriver. loosen all the pots and switches, but not all the way. then lay the pickguard down on a towel face up. remove all screws and nuts so you can lift the pickguard off from above. place the new one on top, and put all fasteners back on. you may have to lift it up to get the pickup springs lined up.

I thought I would have to re-wire/re-sauter the pickups and reset height and wire the jack etc...

if you are not changing pickups or wiring, you do not have to unsolder anything. you can just lay a fat towel on top of the guitar to do the switch.
