There is a drop top on ebay that is made out of lacewood...
never heard of this kind of wood before,any info tom or anyone??
it has beautigul grain !

That's actually a Grand Am, not a Drop Top. The body is solid lacewood. I've never played a solid lacewood guitar, but if Tom made it, it probably sounds great. Warmoth says lacewood sounds like alder, for whatever that's worth.
we made a limited number of lacewood grand am's. if lacewood is on the light side, like mahogany, it has a big sound, not unlike mahogany but perhaps a little more aggressive top end. the problem was that too much of the available wood was too heavy, which did not sound good.

What does lacewood do to the sound, tonally? With maple? With mahogany?
