I have a set of Fralin Vintage Hots and a set of Fender Custom 54’s that I was thinking of dropping into my Classic – just to see what the differences would yield.

My question is can I just follow the exact wiring that’s already in place and substitute the Fralins/Fenders for the VA’s? What about the vintage voicing circuitry?

I’m marginal with a soldering iron but my buddy is a Guru who’s been soldering electronics for over thirty+ years, so a complicate schematic does not intimidate.

Why would anyone want to replace VA's?

because they can.

Does anybody know the answer?

Personally I think the VA's are wonderful sounding pickups but I can't imagine I'm all that unique because I'm curious what a set of different pickups may offer.

I'd be grateful if someone could contribute any useful information towards my question.

Thanks!
Joe

same wiring, vintage voicing should stay, it won't be in the way.

Roger that – and thank you, Tom.
