No NAMM

Was reading thru the No NAMM stuff. Some seriously cool guitars in there. I love the way that Fire Burst Bobcat looks. Anyway one thing on the technical side that popped out was the mention of utilizing the Ilitch system. Tom, what can you tell us about that? Is it the trem cavity plate version? How much does it add to the price? Thanks

i'm afraid that's no longer true. we could not come to a lasting agreement on cost, so i'm back working on our inhouse solution that i was working on 2 years ago. just need to fine tune it, now a priority.

Bummer. I think John Suhr ended up going with his own in house version as well if I remember right.

yes, we're good friends and talk a lot. each method has it's plus's and minus's. he pointed me to the version we're working on. being in full control of a project allows you to fine tune something for your personal use. we usually end up there and seldom use outside vendors if we have a choice.

Yeah, John mentioned to me that he couldn't come to what he considered a good working agreement with Ilitch from a cost stand point either. I had the back trem plate version on my old Strat for a while and I thought it worked well. Doesn't seem that Ilitch is that interested in licensing it to others.

On a similar note, those bent saddles on the Icon S never seemed to take off either. Just didn't work out business wise? Or not enough interest?

because the final take off point on the saddle is in the middle of the radiused top, it is far enough back from where our other saddles are that intonating the high E can be a problem running into the bridge post. and it didn't do anything "better" to make me want to move the bridge.

Gotcha. It finally hit me how to visualize how all that works placement wise.
