Can anyone point me to a website where they are offering a new, Cobra Special, preferrably in a wood color like desert sunset?

I'd rather buy one that's already built than putting in an order. Thanks.

I've got a black Cobra Special with 3 white P-90's that I may consider selling. Would you be interested in anything like that?

I have to admit, it is beautiful. I love the plain ones.

Hey Quad,

Thanks for your interest in Cobra Specials. I know you said you like plain but I would like to mention that there is a beautiful Arctic Blue Burst Cobra or Hollow Cobra (I going off memory here) with twin P-Series pickups at Maken Music in Chicago that just smokes. It sounds soooo good!

With that said, I will check for available Cobra Specials for you later today.

Have fun with it,
Roy (maybe)

Here is the guitar Roy (maybe) is referencing:

NEW Tom Anderson Hollow Cobra, Arctic Blue Burst w/Binding, , OHSC, Call For Price!
I can almost hear the Indian dude with that flute thingy summoning this Cobra out of it's basket. He wants it bad because this guitar ''Really has the Venom! (you know what I mean) Features include: 2) P-90 pickups, 24 &3/4'' scale, Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard. HOLLOW CHAMBERS TOO! Call or e-mail for more details. Only it looks 1000 times better in person than in this picture where the wall is better lit than the guitar. In person it is fabulous but is a totally different color—more like Arctic Blue with flames in the Guitar Gallery of the Anderson website.

Happy Playing,

yes, thanks for the heads up. It's not exactly what I'm looking for though, a solid, wood colored P-90 equipped Cobra Special.

Yea Quad,

That is what I figured—just wanted to be sure. I will check for a woody looking Cobra Special and let you know.

Happy Playing,

Thanks for all the help. This would be the guitar, except with a regular bridge.

That very guitar has made the rounds in Dallas. I was the second owner (third if you count Tom) and it moved out of my collection 2 years ago. It's a nice one. Had the Baggs X-bridge on it.

Big Country------I'm not set up to send pics yet-----but will be able to soon. You can check out the specs on Anderson's site if you want. (11-02-02P). The only thing different is that I had TAG install a powerbridge. (The original bridge is in the case).
It's a sweet guitar, just don't know if I'm digging the P-90's as much as I thought I would.
E-mail me if you'd like: warisvold@cfu.net

Hi Quad,

Well much to our regret all the Cobra Specials have been taken. Wildwood has one in an “S” body shape. Sorry. If you will let us, we can build you one that will astound you.

Happy Playing,
Roy (maybe)

Not trying to derail a possible sale, but have you thought about popping Ms in there?

sylvanshine-------That's exactly the reason I havn't tried hard to sell it yet. I may have to start a new thread-----------Differences in tone of P-90's and M's?

It's been a couple of years since I owned a Cobra Special, but I can't imagine being any happier than with the Ms in my Cobra.

To me, M1s are like single coils on steroids. The M3 (again IMHO) falls between a P and an H. The biggest benefit being that the M is humcancelling and can be split for a true single coil sound (not humcancelling obviously).

If your complaint about the Ps is that there isn't enough meat, then run don't walk to your dealer and get a M3-M1-M1 going in that bad boy. Especially if you like the way it plays.

Let us know what do.

(and apologies again to any potential buyers) :)

mostly yes. our guitars seem to have a wider frequency response than their gibson counter parts.

Yes, this particular one is really nice. I have been eyeing it for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger today. I actually tried to get one of my jammin' buddies to buy it, but he declined. Oh well, his loss is my gain.

He who doesn’t hang around the forum any more Stan? Do you mean Roy (maybe)? I know what you mean. I haven’t seen him around for awhile either. Perhaps he is in hiding.

It's about time you got back to the forum!!! I, for one, am glad to see the "Return of Roy". I knew it was only a matter of time before you needed to get away from locking yourself into a closed room and writing all those GOTW articles. Hope all is well.
