View Full Version : Floyd curiosity...
Why do some pics of Floyd equipped guitars appear to be black under the back of the trem? Just curious what that is.

And then there's this one which doesn't have that.

we've been putting the black rubber gasket inside them for some years now. it serves two purposes. first, with a trans sprayed color, it is very difficult to make the inside of the cavity "pretty" so this fills in that space. also it acts as a pad for those extreme back pullers so that the saddle fine tuner spring plate does not dig into the finish.

I've noticed some recent ones don't have it. Does it just depend on the guitar?
the full fine tuning bridge should have it. a few people have requested not to have it, but only a few. the NFT floyd does not get it, the recess is smaller, and no spring fingers to hit.

Tom, didn't you start placing the rubber gaskets under the FR bridges about 2014/15-ish? i remember talking to Brent about this at the show....
