I forgot about "Gretchen" great album. That was definately Ty's best guitar tones, I prefer the album with the baby under the table, untitled I think. Have you seen them lately? They were down here in OC at the Galaxy, but I didn't get to the show.
I see you have some other Christian Metal 'Styper' on the list. Oz Fox used to come into the music store I worked in. He's very cool, open, very approachable. Great player, much more than the band allowed him to be. Remember the band "Bride". I wonder what happened to them? Great band, very talented guitar player, I forgot his name.

White Lion was a great band. Was it Vito Bratto or something like that. Great player very under rated. They were one of the more possitive Metal bands, not all sex and drugs. They are one of the few Metal cd's I still have. I see you have Ozzy in there, did you like Sabbath? I remember when Iron Man Hit the stores. We were to afraid to play it with our parents home. I remember my first party while under the influence with the words, "IIII am IIIron MMMan dah dah dahdah dah. The beginning of the end for me.

Jimmie, I absolutely concur w/ your views on White Lion. Has anyone tried to play Vito Bratta's rhythm's?!?! If there ever was a successor to EVH, I'd be Vito IMHO. MONSTER writer, MONSTER chops, KILLER tone. The ADA MP1, featured prominently on "Big Game" (as well as on Loudness' "On the Prowl" and "Soldier of Fortune", and in Paul Gilbert's rack '87/'88) was devastingly midrangey and IMHO really a hotrodded Marshall (in a box, w/ the right power amp).

Randy Rhodes is also a favorite. MXR Disto+ through a nonMV Marshall. A little too much buzz for my taste. But w/ songs like "Over the Mountain", "S.A.T.O." or "Flying High Again", who cares?!

Yeah, I have an lab series l7 chopped into a head, and there is an l5 2x12 at the local pawn shop i'm thinking about getting. It's a really wierd amp in the fact that it sustains for days and is totaly solid state, but sounds awesome. I use to have a elite fender strat, that through that amp was EXACTLY the sound. I had to get rid of the fender because it was the heaviest piece of ash i've ever felt, like 2 les pauls almost.

I'm going in september, last time i saw them was in cincy, and they played for 3 hours, it was amazing, totally underated band, i'm glad they continue to make music.

I saw stryper 2 times in the same week on this last tour, one in cleveland, and columbus a day apart, great band that still has it.

I've never heard of bride, i'll have to check them out. A band that almost made the top 10 was Galactic Cowboys, they are very much in the same style as king's x, lots of harmonies, and a 12 string distorted bass :)

Yes! Galactic Cowboys!!! Awesome hi energy band. I have never heard their equal in raw power and energy. Metallica is close. They're like Metallica meets the Beatles. Unbelievable harmonies brilliant tempo changes. Positive Speed Metal. Monty is the best jumping all over the stage ENERGY!. Like you said the twelve string bass is so cool there's no frequencies left for the rest of the band. I especially like it when the guitar player hooks up with him. Kings X and the Galactic Cowboys are musicians bands people who know what's going on are floored by these guys. Ever try to play any of Ty's solos, they rarely follow any of the traditional rules. Tabor modal playing. Oh yeah, I think Monty runs his bass through a Mesa Recto and crosses the sub frequencies through a traditional bass rig. That's how he gets the distorted tones. At least that's what he uses when I 've seen them.

Cool choices, Love the guitar work on Amy Grants album. Back in the mix, but when they break out over the keyboard they rock very tasty riffs. I saw them when Micheal W. Smith was the keyboard player and Amy's ex Gary Chapman on bass very tight band.
How about Richard Marx with Landau doing the guitar work. Definately power pop, great chorused clean tone... In fact I think
Landau TC chorus tone is one of my favorite clean tones of all time. Next to George's tones on Abbey road. Oh yeah, Andy's
tones on Zenyada Mondata... 'Canary in a Coal Mine' or the super wide chords on "Don't stand so Close to Me".

That's cool that you mentioned Richard Marx...there is some very nice guitar playing and tone on his "Rush Street" album. Landau i s great and Steve Lukather plays on a couple tracks. I'm a big Andy Summers fan as well.
