Ahh.

I imagine this will be here next week. :D

Ron popped these up over on the Thorn Forum, wow, what a surprise for lunch today. :D

Thirteen Months almost to the day later, magic. :D

I was going for a Anderson/Melancon/Hamer/PRS type of thing. It incorporates all the needs and wants I have for a guitar. Shorter scale (24.75"), trem, chambered, and killer woods. The use of the fossilized nut mattered to me; and I absolutely love Ron's Firesuns inlay.

Next week will be a good week.

Props to Ron and his shop. Couldn't have been a better experience.

The specs:

Thorn Artisan Deluxe #047

Top: Polexia Grade Curly Koa
Body and Neck: Black Limba
Headcap: Koa
Fingerboard: Brazilian Rosewood
Nut: Fossilized Walrus Tusk
Pickups: Anderson M Series Mini-hums
Thorn 1-pc. Tremolo
Finish: All natural, satin finish on back of neck.
Weight: 7lbs, 7oz. (you gotta love that!)

Polexia is a Thorn Forum In-joke; if you don't understand just know that it is babelicious and only applies to Koa. LOL!

Koa gooooooooooood!

YOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAA!! :p

That is beautiful wood.
Curious about how/why you decided on Limba for the
back and neck. What kind of tone and response are you after?
I hope you have a nice glass display case for your home, cuz beauty like that shouldn't be kept in a case. ;)

The thought for limba (aka Korina) is from a Hamer Korina Artist I had; exceptionally alive and resonating guitar. That thing was amazing.

Rest assured the Thorn will be out and played like mad. I don' thave any "case sitters" I play them all.

Unbelievable Scott. Congrats...that's a looker, not a player. I would be terrified to bring that to a gig!!!... unless they put you in a bullet proof box!:)

I was going to say - I've got several board feet of "Dyslexia Grade " koa in my garage...some figure that our local hardwood geek has never seen...ever seen what is basicaly 'birdseye' koa??? How bout birdseye with flame??? to die for:D

I may try to con Tom into building something with a bit of it - it's 20+ year old definite old growth....some out of this world figure, some plain and suitable for Weissenborn acoustic sets...I'll snap some pics so you can drool:D

BTW - very cool guitar, congratulations.
