Anybody ever compared single coil neck pickup tone on angel and drop top?

I want to know if the angel with single coil neck pickup can produce "true strat tone" like drop top or classic

thanks!

This is an age told debate about 22 fret vs 24 fret guitars and neck pickup tones. You can be sure that the difference won't be night and day. Year ago when Joe Satrani was going to have a 24 fret Guitar made he ended up using a single coil sized humbucker and it had super close to the neck. He said the single cool spacing hears the string closer to how a 22 fret guitar than a humbucker hears it

i thought the dif would be greater than it is. the 24 neck pickup doesn't have quite the low lows that the 2 has, but it's not really starting to sound like a middle pickup either.

is it stevie ray? no probably not. is a respectable neck single coil tone? i'd say yes.

on a side note, i kind of enjoy the 24 neck hb tone not being quite as low end heavy.

won't be night and day is probably good enough for me, thanks for the reply!

thanks for the reply Tom,
which TA single coil neck pickup would be the best for the angel? I need something that is not overly bright and twanky, bold but still has enough pick attack (think dimarzio cruiser)

I've owned a handful of 24-fret guitars (and even one that was 23!) over the years. On MOST of them, I never felt like the sound of the neck pickup suffered as much as people said they would. Especially on a PRS Standard 24 I had for a few years, that neck pickup was just glorious.

That said...

...ya don't make any money up there anyway... No, seriously, I never go that high so will never own a 24-fret guitar again. I really do like the sound of the pickup in the traditional place more, enough for it to make a difference to me anyway.

not sure what a cruiser sounds like. most order the SC1, but SC2 is a little hotter and keeps up with the hb better and still has a nice pick attack.
