Hey Tom couple of questions about the new Schaller Floyd.
It looks like the "Lockmeister" is the model in my new Angel (satin surf from Mesahollywood-great guitar!) with a 35mm sustain block, however the Schaller site list 32,37,42 as sizes supplied- do you guys switch blocks or is Schallers site incorrect?
If I wanted to change out the block is there any reason to pick either a 32mm with a shim or 37mm without a shim?
we have them made with the 35.5mm block. it's the perfect fit for our guitars. a 32 will make the springs drag on th body with deep drops. and 37 way run into the backplate with big up pulls.
what do you want to change it to?
Are the blocks the same on the Floyd and new Non fine tuning Floyd ?
Unless the blocks are cheapo metal , which I can't imagine Tom choosing, why would you want to change the block ?

I've switched to titanium on several guitars -seems to bring out slightly more high end, and I know it seems like snake oil but several guitarists I respect really like the granite tone block (Chris Poland for one), so I was thinking about that. I've used 37mm on the titanium blocks without using the shim-seems to work okay.
blocks can make a tonal change and they can also greatly affect the flutter when you release the arm or hit the strings hard. the heavier the block the more flutter you get.
i still prefer the regular size brass block, never desired a brighter tone from the floyd. the extra flutter from the big block wasn't something i was after either.
