View Full Version : Pau ferro fingerboards - why so rare?
There seem to be only few Andersons out there with this great fingerboard material. I can understand that some people don't like it because it isn't visually very dark but it sure feels smooth and great, playing wise. I'd love to own an Anderson with a pau ferro f/b some day!
Had a Classic with it. Felt fantastic!
we used lots of it in the 80's, but it has fallen from favor here. it's a good choice if you like lots of fundamental and less higher harmonic content. which is why i personally prefer rosewood or maple. pf can sound dull to me, especially on alder bodies.
i love the look and feel of it, the sound is what keeps me from using it more.
They're really good for basses. Possibly because of that strong fundamental.

Got one Pro Am With Pau Ferro board.
Almost all of my other guitars are with maple fb's so this feels a bit darker but it has nice feel to it.

It's just peachy on my hollow Atom CT, made in 08 (actually Tom's personal guitar for a time).

Thanks bro!
This is my go to screamer axe.
Only mod for the original is HN3+ at the bridge.
Not that I don't like the "new" headstock but I just adore that graceful old model headstock.
