With all of the guitarist on this forum, I was wondering which guitarist you all enjoy listening to. So, besides Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Eddie Van Halen, (those 3 are legends and we all know everyone enjoys them) who are your top 5 favorite guitarist?

Here are mine:

1.) Robben Ford
2.) Michael Landau
3.) Steve Lukather
4.) Doyle Bramhall II
5.) Eric Gales

Funny thing is that I don't particularly care for EVH, SRV or Jimi! Sacrilege!! My top 5 is IN this order-

Michael Schenker
Uli Roth
Greg Howe
Eric Johnson
Gary Moore

Gary F.

Hey, if Stan can have 10, can I have six?

Robben Ford
Eric Johnson
Jeff Beck
Mark Knopfler
Steve Kimock
Eric Clapton (derek & the dominos era)

p.s.- ScottiK, Check out "Power of Soul," the recent Hendrix tribute album. Eric Gales kills on his version of 'May this be love.' Check out John McLaughlin's mind-blowing lead on 'Wind Cries Mary,' as well, with Sting covering vocals.

Scott, Eric Gales released an album in 2001 called "That's What I Am". There is some great playing all over that disc.:)

Pete Townshend, yeah! A perfect example of how A, G & D in the hands of lesser talent sound like an A, G & D. In Townshends world, it becomes 'Won't get fooled again.' Great economical player who still defines what makes rock great.

Let's see:

1. Chris Whitley - complete genius as a player and songwriter.
2. Jeff Beck - keeps evolving unlike some of his contemporaries.
3. Richard Thompson
4. Mark Knopfler
5. John Frusciante
6. Junior Brown

Many more, but this group comes to mind first.
