A standard Hardshell Case for a TAG guitar is form-fitted for the particular type of guitar it's for. Is the same true for the Super Deluxe Hard Gig Bag? I'm thinking about ordering one with my next guitar, but not if I can only use it for one type.

Also, who makes these?

Access Stage 3. Universal fit. Nice bag.

I have a Mono M80 and a guitar sleeve. The M80 is probably as protective as, or moreso than, a case.

I prefer the guitar sleeve, as I normally have control over where my guitar is at all times, and it's so much smaller. neither is form fit. It does not matter.

There are loads of options.

One thing I have to say about the gig bags that is often overlooked, I really like how much less I have to worry about wear and tear moving the gig bag around compared to a hard case. With a regular case I've banged up trim and furniture around the house and I've banged up the interior of vehicles. If you're a scatter brained klutz like me, the bag has the advantage of bouncing off other things as opposed to crashing into them and taking paint off or leaving dents. :D

This is precisely the reason that I'm using gig bags exclusively these days, and my hard cases are in the original Anderson shipping boxes in storage.

This also seems to be a veiled endorsement of the robustness of the bag in protecting your guitar as well as those around you? It has passed the BFC crash course test ;)

Yep, I'm a living breathing episode of the three stooges when I'm packing an instrument. Especially a bass. Those are extra long bags and extra dangerous. :D

Thanks for all the input. The Access and Mono cases look pretty good, and they aren't really that expensive (compared to the cost of the guitar.) I think I'll go ahead and get the normal hardshell case, and then get a gig bag separately.

If you like to cringe, watch Carvin's demo of their gig bag. These are also reasonably priced.

Haha, I do this too! My acoustic always travels in a hard case, but when I sold my John Mayer strat several years ago, I sold a Fender tweed hard case with it so that I could keep the JM Incase gig bag, which I now use with all my electrics when they go somewhere.
