Like a fool I swapped out the H2+ from my Drop Top years ago and since then nothing has found a home.
So, I've decided to fit another Anderson pickup but which ?
Not too hot, as my gain comes from my rig but most important is that it splits well to mix with VA singles to give maximum 'quack '..
What am I describing ?

Guitar is alder/maple with maple/african rosewood.

I think the HC or HF series might work. So maybe an HC2 or HF2?

what was it about the H2+ that made you want to change it?

HF2 is a good suggestion. if the H2+was just a bit too full, then and H2 would also be a great choice.

I could never seem to get the H2+ to balance with the VA's.
Always felt like I was playing different guitars.

I'm wondering now if maybe I should have experimented with the height more.

height would help, but it is pretty hot by comparison.

the HF or HC1+ is a great match and splits well compared to the va's.

I love the HF1+ in the bridge of my S style guitar with SC1's in the neck and middle. The HF1+ does pretty good cleanish tones and does great with overdrive tones, as well.

HF1+ does fantastic cleans. Beautiful chime and cut with exceptional dynamic control. Has a character that feels very similar to the VA5s that I have in another guitar.

I never tried to split it, but it worked really well with the kickback/booster circuits.

When pairing it with a set of M1s in the neck and middle I had the opposite problem that you had with your H2+. The Ms sounded hot modern and the HF1+ sounded vintage. Like two different guitars. The H2+ matches perfectly with the M1s in that guitar.

The biggest problem with the mismatched sound is when you get the amp set to sound good with the modern side, the vintage side suffers, and vice versa. That being said, the HF1+ did sound glorious in that guitar (Hollow Cobra S).

I decided to go for a H2+.
Decided to play it safe.

As usually, Jack Gretz was a pleasure to deal with.

Just remember not to sell it this time if you decide to try out a HF1+. ;)

I've played a lot of humbucker pickups. and if I had to recommend one for general purpose, my first choice would be an H2+... that said, the Seth Lovers I had years ago in a Heritage were awesome, but not really split-able.

This time I'll change the singles before the humbucker :D
